Al Westcott: When the Kingdom Comes

Al Westcott was recently voted an Ojai favorite in the Ojai Valley News 2007 Best Of Ojai Readers' Poll.   He usually plays entertaining covers by Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and the Eagles, while weaving in his own originals.  This is a song he wrote and recorded, "When the Kingdom Comes."

"I just finished writing the song and putting the final touches on the CD artwork.  It is a bit of a departure for me in that I am not a 'gospel' songwriter but this one just felt right and turned out to have a gospel feel.  I did all the parts myself using my in-home recording equipment," says Westcott.

I'm partial to this tune.  It sounds like hillbilly gospel.

Also of note, Westcott is also a photographer.  Check out his Web site to see some of his work.

Hear more of Al's music every Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at Bodee's, the first Friday night of the month at the Village Jester, or at his My Space page.  Click below to hear "When the Kingdom Comes."
